Luk Solid Flywheel Conversion Clutch Kits

Many of your Ford Trucks, 1986 – 1997, GM Trucks, 2001 – 2006, and Dodge Trucks, 2005 – 2015 were built using a dual-mass flywheel as part of the clutch system. Dual-mass flywheels are becoming the norm in many of the newer vehicle manual transmission applications. Unfortunately, the dual-mass flywheel does not perform as well in the diesel applications as it may in gas-operated vehicles due in large part to the torque of the trucks and heavy loads these trucks are designed for. The solid flywheel replacement kit is designed to replace the entire original clutch and flywheel assembly. Solid flywheel conversions are usually less expensive than the factory dual mass flywheel and in the future only the clutch kit needs to be replaced making it a more economical option than the original equipment. Also, in nearly every application the solid flywheel conversion is a stronger, larger, and more durable kit as opposed to the factory assembly. Most of the diesel solid flywheel conversion kits we offer are available as a standard replacement kit (in most cases a 20-30% increase over stock), a heavy duty dual friction kit (approximately a 50% increase over stock), or a full cerametallic clutch kit for extreme applications.

The standard conversion is excellent for both 2wd and 4wd, stock and lightly modified diesel trucks running a tuner and exhaust. It handles towing of light and heavy loads without any issues. This is an excellent choice for otw trucks, snow plow trucks, hotshot haulers, ect. The heavy duty Dual Friction Conversion is excellent for the stock to heavily modified diesel trucks. It is an excellent choice for all loads including livestock and both 2wd and 4wd applications. The full Cerametallic Conversion is designed for heavily modified diesel trucks, preferably 4wd, used in more extreme, high torque applications. We would not recommend this for a 2wd truck due to the higher gearing or for towing of livestock because of the harsher engagement of the clutch. We do not recommend any of our solid flywheel conversions for sled pulling!

We highly recommend when backing a trailer, especially a heavy trailer, to put the truck in 4wd low and take your foot off the clutch pedal. This prevents the extreme heat build-up, which destroys clutches, from constantly working the pedal.

Our Solid Flywheel Conversions are made of the highest quality clutch parts available on the market. We assemble our kits from Luk manufactured components and will never substitute off-shore manufactured clutch components in our kits. We will not settle when it comes to quality. In most cases, we can offer Luk products as cheap or cheaper than off-shore manufactured parts. Call us if you have any questions as to which clutch would be best for your application.
